Worldwide trade with natural raw materials is the heart of our business and therefore Roeper provides professional training as “Kaufmann / Kauffrau im Außenhandel” (International Traders / Salesmen).
Your apprenticeship will include training in all relevant departments such as accounting, forwarding department, warehouse, quality management and of course sales and procurement. Since Roeper does not outsource tasks to external providers, but takes over all typical jobs of a trader itself, you will gain substantial know-how of the trading business and thorough insight in the world of trading. At Roeper, you have the chance to experience all aspects of trading first-hand. You will gain useful experience to help you understand the whole process of trading business. Training at Roeper means training for a whole work life.

Which qualification do you need?
You should have an Advanced College Certificate (Fachhochschulreife) or a very good Certificate of Secondary Education (Realschulabschluss). You have good English skills or you even speak another foreign language. You are well experienced with modern information technology. You like to grow to face challenges and you always seek the best solution for customers? You can identify with our values and want to become part of a modern company?

Bachelor of Business Adminstration and Foreign Trade
You are interested in natural raw materials and you care for sustainability aspects in developing new food products? Then a dual graduate study course with Roeper will be an exciting possibility to create your future career. Our company, C.E. Roeper GmbH, is an importer of natural raw materials from all over the world. These products are marketed internationally to customers from the food industry, but also from other sectors such as cosmetics. Companies like Roeper participate in creating new trends in start-up food companies, for instance for vegan products based on plant proteins. In the past, we were able to source suppliers for innovative protein sources – for instance from beans and peas. And we are up to much more in the future – are you, too?
We are looking for a person that is committed and motivated to engage in dual course studies in foreign trade business management. During the practical part of your studies in our company, you will gather hands-on experience and you will be able to put theoretical university study into practice. You will for instance learn how to import “superfoods” such as Chia seeds and Quinoa from Peru, what to consider when purchasing Menthol from India, Gum Olibanum from Sudan or organic beeswax from New Zealand – and you will learn how to market all of these products to the food, cosmetic or technical industry.
Upon completion of the program, you will have earned a bachelor’s degree in foreign trade management, while at the same time completing your training as a merchant in foreign trade and earning a qualification as a business economist in foreign trade from the Institute for Foreign Trade at Lämmermarkt. All of this prepares you to become a trader with the skills to operate in international markets.

your tasks and assignments
- Management of our customer and supplier accounts worldwide
- Preparing offers and order confirmations
- Processing payments and documents
- Supporting the team planning and attending exhibitions and other events
- Backing our finance department effecting payments, checking import documents, processing receipts and drawing-up financial analysis
- Supporting our logistics department by processing imports and exports on all transportation ways (vessel, air, truck…), processing transportation orders, coordinating deliveries and custom clearance
- Participating in our application technology (also in our own trial kitchen)
- Creating a vision for the future of our company (digitization, social media, webshop, trainee’s blog…)
your profile
- “Abitur” (or similar) or advanced college certificate
- Interest in economics and commercial topics
- Good language skills in English and possibly another foreign language (besides German)
- Good communication and team skills
